Pair of Rowel Spurs

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Pair of rowel spurs by an unknown artist. Two metal spurs with a curved neck, a long straight shank, and a star-shaped rowel at the end. The top spur has a leaf-shaped decoration at the top of the neck. The bottom spur has a small disk-shaped charm hanging from the base of the neck. Both spurs have a brown patina and are lying on a gray surface. The spurs are positioned diagonally, with the top spur pointing to the upper left and the bottom spur pointing to the lower right.
