The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two sword-grip ornaments, menuki, with gold-colored dragon designs and dark metal handles. The sword-grip ornaments are placed one on top of the other, aligned horizontally. Each ornament features a gold-colored metal piece with a dragon design on the center. The dragons have a flame-like pattern around their bodies and appear to be emerging from the center of the ornaments. The dragons are surrounded by a cylindrical section with a ridged and a smooth section. The dragons have a black band on the top and bottom. The top and bottom have a gold-colored metal piece with a crown-like design on both sides. The handle section of the sword-grip ornaments are dark gray metal with a diamond-shaped end. The background is a solid light gray color. The artist of this pair of sword-grip ornaments is unknown.
