Double-bladed Processional Axe

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Double-bladed Processional Axe by an unknown artist. The axe head is made of metal, likely steel or iron, with a silver-gray color and visible signs of wear and tear, including dark spots and discoloration. The head has two curved blades that extend outwards in a crescent shape, resembling a double crescent moon. The blades are roughly symmetrical, with the left and right sides being mirror images of each other. The blades are etched with patterns and designs. The handle is made of wood and is dark brown with orange-brown patches. The handle appears to be worn and weathered. The background of the image is a solid light gray color.
