The object is a circular, flat piece of metal with a dark brown and black patina. The metal guard has a large, elongated teardrop-shaped hole in the center, and two curved cutouts at the top. A cutout on the left is roughly a half-circle with a wavy bottom edge. A straight cutout on the right resembles an elongated 'C'. The background is a light gray color. Tsuba by unknown artist.
