Pair of Flintlock Pistols of the Prince of Wales, later George IV (1762–1830)

Durs Egg

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two flintlock pistols with dark brown wooden grips and metal components, positioned side by side, both facing left. The grips have a textured surface, while the metal parts are predominantly silver in color. A small oval-shaped silver plate adorns the side of each pistol, situated near the breech end. The triggers are located near the grip, and a small lever, known as the frizzen, is positioned near the hammer. A short, curved piece of metal, the hammer, is cocked back on both pistols. The background of the image is a plain grey color.
