Flintlock Pistol

William Green

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The flintlock pistol has a dark brown wooden grip with a brass cap at the bottom. The barrel and parts of the mechanism are brass. The metalwork on the side of the action and pan is intricately engraved. A silver-colored hammer is in the half-cocked position. The butt is curved downward. The barrel is octagonal near the breech and becomes round towards the muzzle. A small ring is on the grip. The background is gray. The text on the barrel reads "Flintlock Pistol by William Green".
