Lance-Linstock

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Lance-Linstock by unknown artist is a long-handled weapon with a metal head. The metal head tapers to a point, pointed end up, resembling a teardrop or leaf; it appears to have a vertical slit down its center. Attached to the bottom of the head are two curved metal pieces that extend outward on either side in a half-circle; these pieces have decorative ends. The base of the metal head is adorned with a decorative design below which is a rounded metal piece. The long handle appears to be made of wood and has a metal band or ferrule near the top; the handle is mostly covered. The background is a plain gray color.
