Pair of Stirrups

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Pair of Stirrups, Two metal stirrups with a predominantly gold color and some darker areas, likely from wear. The stirrups are made of metal. The stirrup on the left faces forward and the one on the right faces forward but is angled slightly to the right. The tops of the stirrups each have a small circular ring. The stirrups' arches are decorated with raised patterns. The base of each stirrup is flat and circular with a depression in the center. The base of the right stirrup has a pattern around the circular depression and a design where the arch meets the base. The base of the left stirrup has a patterned rim. The background is dark gray and lighter at the bottom. The stirrups cast a faint shadow.
