Death of the Buddha (Parinirvana)
The sculpture depicts a central figure lying on a platform or bed. The central figure is positioned horizontally and appears to be covered with drapery. The figure's head rests on a pillow and their body is surrounded by several other figures. Some of these figures have their hands raised. Others appear to be grieving or paying respects. The sculpture also features carved leaves. The entire scene is carved into a single block of stone which appears to be gray with some lighter-colored inclusions. The block is roughly rectangular in shape with one corner chipped off.
