Bowl with Heron in Reeds

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The ceramic bowl features a beige base color with a cracked surface texture and small dark speckles throughout. A scalloped edge runs around the rim. The interior of the bowl depicts a black heron standing in reeds. The heron faces left, with its neck curved down. Dark brown glaze or paint is used for the heron design and some speckles. The background behind the bowl transitions from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom.
