The top crane faces right with wings spread and tail feathers fanned out. The bottom crane stands facing left with its neck extended upwards. There are also depictions of bamboo, a plum tree with fruit, and a pine tree. A chrysanthemum design is molded into the rim of the dish. The background of the image is gray with a shadow cast by the dish.
