The object is a black, cylindrical, lacquered case with a rounded top and bottom. A black cord is attached to the top for carrying. The case has a design on two sides. The obverse side features a scene with several birds in flight above flowering irises growing out of water with ripples. The reverse side features butterflies above flowering peony. The designs are primarily gold with some subtle color variations. The background of both sides is black. The case appears to be made of several sections stacked on top of each other. The images are presented side-by-side on a beige background.
