Petticoat

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Petticoat by an unknown artist shows a cream-colored, three-tiered skirt with ruffles at the bottom of each tier. The skirt is made of wrinkled fabric and appears to be made of cotton or linen. A narrow strip of fabric encircles the top of the skirt. The bottom tier is the longest and the top tier is the shortest. The skirt is on a black stand and against a white background.
