Triple-Crested Burgonet

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Triple-Crested Burgonet by an unknown artist is a metal helmet. The helmet has a darkened patina with areas of light reflecting off its surface. The helmet's primary body is made of a single piece of metal, shaped to fit the head, with a pointed top divided into three distinct sections or crests. The crests run from the front to the back of the helmet. The edge of the top section has triangular projections. There are two main sections to the helmet: the top portion covers the top of the head and has ventilation holes, and the face guard which covers the face. The face guard is shaped to protect the face, with a curved shape around the mouth and nose area and a more solid section. The face guard is attached on either side. Rivets are used throughout the helmet to secure various parts. The base of the helmet has a decorative edge. The background of the image is a gradient, dark at the top and light at the bottom.
