Bullfights: The Famous Martincho Places the Banderillas Playing the Bull with the Movement of his Body

Francisco de Goya

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image shows a black and white drawing of a man and a bull. The man is on the left, wearing a cloth wrapped around his waist and no shirt or shoes. He has long dark hair and his left arm is wrapped around the bull's neck. The bull's head and upper body are turned to the left. The man is leaning to the left with his right leg extended behind him. The bull's body faces right and its tail is curved to the left. The background appears to be a bullring with a sandy floor. The walls are light-colored with a darker section at the top. The image is rectangular and centered on a piece of off-white paper with a rough texture. The paper has a darker border around the image and a small number "15" in the top-right corner.
