Vishnu Battles Madhu and Kaitabha, from a Markandeya Purana

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a scene with four figures, three of which are interacting in the center-right, and one sitting on the left. The figure on the left is blue-skinned, wearing an orange skirt and a crown-like object on their head, and sitting on a large white wave. The central figures are: a blue-skinned individual with an orange skirt and crown, their right arm raised; a red-skinned individual with a similar appearance; and a green-skinned individual with a purple sash around their waist. The background features a light gray color with wavy lines throughout, resembling water or clouds. The scene appears to be a battle between the central figures, with the blue figure on the left observing from the wave. The image has a beige border around it.
