Two pages from a medieval manuscript book. The left page features a large initial "S" in gold, red, and blue, decorated with foliage on the left. Inside the initial are two people, a woman and a man or angel. The woman wears blue, and the person in the background wears green with a blue head covering. The woman reaches out to touch the head of the other person. Flanking the initial are two small blue and green figures, with the left one playing a wind instrument and the right one playing a stringed instrument. The right page has black musical notation on five lines and red lines separating the sections. The pages are yellowed with age and have some signs of wear. The text on both pages is written in Latin. The artist's work includes the title "Leaf from a Gradual: Historiated Initial S[alve Sancta Parens] with Birth of the Virgin (recto) and Music (verso)".
