Printed Book of Hours (Use of Rome): fol. 13v, December calendar page

Guillaume Le Rouge

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image is a medieval-style illustration of a calendar page for December. The top section features a drawing of a scene: a woman in a blue dress and a kneeling woman in white and green are interacting with a skeleton in a room. The skeleton has its right hand on a bed where a third woman lies. The bed has a green curtain behind it and a white horse on a blue and gold banner above. The scene is framed by a gold arch with columns on either side. The word "December" is written on a red banner. Below the scene, a list of dates and text appears in black, red, and blue ink. The background of the image resembles aged paper.
