Ratnasambhava, Akshobhya, Vairochana with attendants, Amitabha, and Amoghasiddhi, Top cover, from a Manuscript of the Perfection of Wisdom in Eight Thousand Lines (Ashtasahasrika Prajnaparamita-sutra)
Long, rectangular object with rounded edges, made of wood, featuring a row of seated figures. The background of the object is predominantly red with areas of wear and chipped paint. There are eight figures in total, each sitting in a similar position with hands in their laps or in front of them. Each figure is framed by a circular or oval halo. The figures are dressed in red robes, some have dark hair and some have light or no halo behind their heads. The figures are separated by diamond-shaped designs and red sections. Two small holes are visible, one on either side of the fourth figure from the left. The object has a worn appearance with visible signs of aging and deterioration. The figures are likely Buddhist deities based on their depiction. The object appears to be a top cover for a manuscript.
