Condiment Dish

Union Porcelain Works

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

White porcelain condiment dish with gold trim and blue floral designs. The dish has a wavy edge and a distinctive shape, resembling a shield or a rounded rectangle with a scalloped top. The main body of the dish is white with a large empty space in the center. The border features a mosaic pattern of small gold squares. There are four sections of the mosaic pattern, one in each corner. The top section has a gold design resembling a fleur-de-lis or a stylized leaf. Blue and gold floral motifs are on either side, and a blue and gold shell-like design is at the bottom. The background of the image is dark gray, with the dish casting a slight shadow.
