Embroidered sampler by Ann Margaret Thum. Square piece of fabric with a central scene. The central scene depicts a brown house with a fenced yard and trees on either side. A line of five sheep stands in front of the house. The house and trees are stitched in shades of brown, green, and blue on a cream-colored fabric background. Above the house are three stitched objects resembling urns or planters on shelves. Above the objects is stitched text reading "Ann Margaret Thum / Her Work Done / 8 May 1819". The sampler has a border of repeating stitched floral motifs around the edges. The fabric appears worn and frayed in places, with some areas of discoloration. The sampler is framed in a dark brown frame on a gray background.
