Inscription with description of rocks at Cape Flattery (from Sketchbook X)

William Trost Richards

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a white piece of paper with handwritten text on the left side. The paper is rectangular and has a rough texture. The text is written in black ink and appears to be a handwritten note. The text reads: "Rocks at Cape Flattery Some of the cliffs are 1000 feet Steep sandstone schist Big and 1750 to 1800 feet Other rocks underneath Sandstone." The handwriting is messy and difficult to read. The paper has a few small dark spots on it. The right edge of the paper appears to have three small holes in a vertical line. The background of the image is solid white.
