Pier Table

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Semi-circular wooden table, "Pier Table", by an unknown artist. The table top comprises alternating stripes of wood, forming rays from a central point. Dark brown wood dominates the outer sections with lighter wood in the inner sections, all with a glossy finish. The table top edges and underside are stained dark brown. The table has a drawer on the front. Four tapered legs, slightly thicker at the top and bottom, support the table; they are metallic with a dark, possibly green, finish. The background is plain white with the table casting a faint shadow.
