Study for a Vase (from Sketchbook)

John Quincy Adams Ward

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a gray rectangle with a sketch of a vase on it. The vase is drawn in black pencil at the top center. It has a wide body that tapers to a narrow base and two handles on either side. The handles are attached near the top of the vase and curve outward. The vase appears to have a lid. To the right of the vase is some illegible handwriting in black pencil. The background of the rectangle is gray with some darker gray smudges and marks. The rectangle is on a white background.
