Below the alphabet is a poem that reads: "Now bless the Maid whom circling years improve Her God the object of her warmest love Whose useful hours successive as they slide The book the needle and the pen divide Lydia Pearson was born June 24th 1791. Aged 11 years 1802". The poem and alphabet are surrounded by a blue border with a floral design. The border around the blue design has green leaves and various colored flowers including blue, yellow and pink. The bottom of the fabric has a green rectangle with yellow and white flowers.
