Shaffron (Horse's Head Defense) with arms of the Freyberg family

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a silver-colored, metal piece of armor. The armor is shaped to cover the torso, with a wide top that tapers down to a narrower bottom. It has a central vertical ridge and is adorned with rivets along the edges and seams. Two curved protrusions are on the top, one on each side. The bottom center features a gold-colored emblem with three six-pointed stars. The armor's edges have a rope-like design. The background is light gray. This is the Shaffron (Horse's Head Defense) with arms of the Freyberg family.
