The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Sword Guard (Tsuba) has a bronze base with a gold colored metal accent. The guard has a distinctive shape, resembling a flower. It features a central hole with a rounded rectangular shape and rounded edges. There are several large leaves extending outwards from the center. The leaves have wavy edges and are intricately detailed with lines to resemble veins. The guard has a predominantly dark brown patina with gold accents on several of the leaves. The background of the image is a plain gray color.
