Fishes Swimming

Seki Shūkō

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Three gray fish with darker stripes on their bodies are swimming to the left in wavy water. The fish are positioned on a diagonal from lower left to upper right. The largest fish is in the lower left corner, a medium-sized fish is behind and above it, and a small fish is at the top. The fish have small eyes, small fins, and slightly forked tails. The background is a light beige color with darker beige ripples. There are several lines of Asian characters written vertically on the right side of the image, with one red square seal below them. The artwork is bordered by a thin brown line.
