Pantaloons

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

White pants made of fabric, likely cotton or linen, with a straight cut and slightly tapered legs. The pants have a high waistline with a small belt loop and a tie at the top center. Two side pockets are visible on either side of the waist. A central seam runs down the front, with a triangular flap folded inward. The bottom of each leg has a series of small slits, possibly for ties or buttons, and a long, thin strap extends from each side. The pants are displayed on a gray background. The pants are titled "Pantaloons" by an unknown artist.
