The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a pair of black stockings by artist Jasper Johns. The stockings are knee-high, made of a thin material, possibly nylon or silk, and have a seam running down the back. They are laid flat, side by side, with the toes pointing downwards. The stockings have a slight sheen to them and appear to be made of a smooth, lustrous material. The background of the image is off-white. The stockings are identical in shape and size, with a slight crease visible on both. The toe of each stocking is pointed. The top of each stocking has a fold at the top. The stockings appear to be in good condition, with no visible tears or stains.
