The man stands on an uneven surface. Behind the man to the right is a kneeling figure reaching up. Behind the man to the left is a ship on the water with a person rowing and another standing. Roman numerals on right side read "CHRISTOPHER COLVMBVS OCT XII MDCCCCXIII". The surface of the medal has many wrinkles and lines. The background is white.
