Argand Lamp

Henry N. Hooper and Company

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Argand Lamp by Henry N. Hooper and Company shows two black metal lamp bases with gold accents. The bases have a wide base that tapers to a narrower middle section, then flares out slightly near the top. A horizontal bar extends from each base with a white glass shade on the end. The shade is bulbous with a flared rim and features a floral pattern. On top of each base is a small, covered reservoir. The background is gray and darkens towards the top. The image is well lit with shadows visible beneath each base.
