Sword guard (<i>Tsuba</i>) Depicting Bodhidharma (達磨図鐔)

Dark brown, circular metal object with a rough edge. Two central holes, one elongated and narrow, the other wider and more rounded. A relief carving on the right side depicts a man with a bald head, mustache, and beard, wearing a robe. The man covers his face with his hand. The metal shows signs of aging and wear. A thin gold inlay borders the object's edge.
