Estoc (Thrusting Sword)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Estoc (Thrusting Sword) by an unknown artist. The sword has a long, slender, silver-colored blade. The crossguard is T-shaped, with two flat, wide quillons extending to either side. The quillons have flat, diamond-shaped ends. There are two small, circular rings on either side of the crossguard, positioned near the base of the quillons. The hilt is made of dark metal and features a distinctive, bulbous pommel with a small knob on top. The grip is long and narrow, with a slight tapering towards the pommel. The overall appearance of the sword is one of elegance and simplicity, with clean lines and minimal ornamentation. The background of the image is a plain gray color.
