Rapier

Pietro Caino

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Rapier by Pietro Caino shows a black metal hilt with a knuckle guard on the right and a quillon on the left. The quillon is circular with a slight protrusion on the bottom and a flat section on the bottom where it meets the blade. A rounded rectangular pommel sits atop a ridged cylindrical grip. The blade is shiny and silver with visible etching and black numbers. A ruler or other measuring device appears to be on the blade. The background is gray.
