Andiron

James Davis

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Black and white photograph of andirons by James Davis. Two andirons sitting on a surface. The andirons are made of dark metal, possibly iron. Each andiron has a base with three curved legs. Above the base, a cylindrical section connects to a larger, spherical section with a decorative line around the middle. The spherical section connects to stacked, smaller cylindrical sections. A long, thin, tapered section sits on top. Behind each andiron, a flat piece of metal extends out and back, forming an upside-down L-shape. The background is a plain wall with a lighter-colored surface in front of it.
