Andiron

Revere and Son

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Two andirons, titled "Andiron" by Revere and Son, are shown standing upright. The andirons are made of metal, likely silver, and have a dark patina. Each andiron has a base with three curved legs ending in ball-shaped feet. The base of each andiron has a short rectangular block supporting a series of stacked decorative elements. The decorative elements are a short cylinder, a larger, spiral grooved element narrowing to a short cylinder, another larger spiral grooved element narrowing to a short cylinder, and finally a bulbous element tapering to a point. The andirons are positioned on a flat surface against a plain wall.
