Glaive of the Bodyguard of Giovanni Battista Bourbon del Monte (1541–1614)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Long curved sword with a single-edged blade and a short hook-like projection on the back near the tip. The blade is narrow and tapering, with a pointed tip. A short, ornate hilt with a flared base and two short quillons that protrude on either side. The sword appears weathered with visible discoloration and possible rust. A portion of another sword visible to the right with a white and brown blade. The background is a light-colored wall.
