Fauchard

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Fauchard, a medieval weapon, features a long, curved blade with a pointed tip. The blade is roughly 1.5 to 2 times the length of the handle. A smaller, curved hook-like protrusion extends from the blade, located approximately one-third of the way down from the tip. The blade and hook have a worn, silver-gray color with visible signs of wear and tear, including small spots and pits. A short, thin handle with a slight decorative element near the base of the blade is visible. The background is a solid, light gray color.
