Fauchard

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Fauchard by unknown artist depicts a silver-colored pole weapon with a single curved blade protruding from the center. The blade is long and narrow with a pointed tip. Metal designs are engraved on both sides. A horizontal protrusion extends from the bottom of the blade, curving downward on the left and ending in a serrated edge. Two sets of four round holes are punched into the blade. A short metal cylinder connects the blade to a long handle. The background is gray with white in the bottom right corner.
