Glaive of the Bodyguard of Giovanni Battista Bourbon del Monte (1541–1615)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Long, pointed metal blade with a sharp tip and a slight curve near the tip. A smaller, hook-like protrusion extends from the side of the blade near the hilt. The blade features intricate etchings and patterns. A decorative metal guard is positioned at the base of the blade where it meets the hilt. The hilt appears to have a detailed design. The background is a solid light gray color.
