

The medal is circular and made of bronze. The top half features a raised scene of ships at sea with smoke rising from them. The ships have multiple masts. The background of the scene includes clouds and what appears to be a crescent moon. The bottom half of the medal contains raised text that reads "ALGIERS BOMBARDED / ITS FLEET DESTROYED / & CHRISTIAN SLAVERY / EXTINGUISHED". Underneath the text is a signature and date that reads "ENG BY PEMOUTH 1816".
