The medal's outer rim has text that reads "MORTEM EST PRO PATRIA" at the top and "In MEMORY OF THE BATTLE AND MASSACRE OF WYOMING" at the bottom, with a star below. The center of the medal depicts a monument with a long obelisk on top of a square base; the monument stands in front of trees. The years "1778" and "1878" are engraved on either side of the obelisk. The medal casts a shadow on a gray background.
